Paper Physics Group

General information

The Paper Physics group is researching and developing papermaking through mathematical modelling. The main research areas cover detailed phenomenological modelling of fibre suspensions flows and paper structure, and process and quality optimization of the entire papermaking process.

Our objective is to develop modelling at the internationally recognized academic level, and hereby to obtain the most up-to-date knowledge of the related phenomena. Reliability of the models is validated with experimental measurements done by our partners. Furthermore, the most recent knowledge is transformed to software tools and to every-day usage in the industry, done in close co-operation with modelling enterprises, research institutes and industry.

The multidisciplinary group has expertise in physics, engineering and scientific computing. The young and enthusiastic group is growing fast and it is one of the biggest research groups at the Department of Physics, University of Kuopio.

Please, let this web-site introduce us and the modelling opportunities we can offer you!
